Priya-The Accessibility Warrior

“Priya - The Accessibility Warrior”, a comic book launched by Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Ministry of Education and Dr. Virendra Kumar, Hon’ble Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India on 24th August, 2021. The comic book named “Priya -The Accessibility Warrior” is the outcome of collaborative efforts of Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India. It provide glimpses into the world of a girl named Priya who met an accident and couldn’t walk, due to plastered leg,. The story depicts how she managed to participate in all activities at school, as the school has made efforts to become accessible. In the process Priya learnt the importance of the accessibility and therefore she takes the pledge of being the accessibility warrior. The comic book is available with INDIAN SIGN LANGUAGE explanatory videos. The key message of the book is “Everyone Needs Accessibility, Accessibility Helps Everyone”. The comic book also consists of Nine activities which will facilitate learning more about the accessibility/concerns and its importance in our daily lifestyle. The National Education Policy 2020 emphasizes the promotion of Inclusiveness in the education structure of our nation, these kind of initiatives helps bring the awareness in the masses which will bring a widespread revolutionary change for the betterment and for building a bright future for our students.

“Priya- The Accessibility Warrior” comic book brings the message of need of accessibility and helps guiding the students in the right path and flourish the ideologies of being kind, helpful and solicitous towards everyone. The comic book is available on DIKSHA Portal, E-Pathshala, and NCERT website for everyone to access and read the comic book.

How to use TTS in "Priya the accessibility warrior e-Comic cum Activity Book" for Android Phone

  • Step 1: Open Google Playstore and in the search box type Voice Aloud Reader (TTS Application URL)
  • Step 2: Click on Install button to install the app
  • Step 3: After installing app, open the Voice Aloud Reader
  • Step 4: Go to epathshala website www.epathshala.nic.in
  • Step 5: Click on epathshala dropdown menu.
  • Step 6: Select any one category out of four categories -Students, Teachers, Educators, Parents.
  • Step 7: Click on ecomic book on accessibility.
  • Step 8: After clicking on ecomic book on accessibility link you will be redirected to Priya the accessibility warrior introductory page.
  • Step 9: On that page you will get the direct link for Priya the accessibility warrior ePub in both the langauges Hindi and English.
  • Step 10: Download the Priya the Accessibility Warrior ePub file.
  • Step 11: After downloading the book you have to open Voice Aloud Reader Application.
  • Step 12: The books downloaded in the phone will be seen on the Book menu in the application.
  • Step 13: The next screen will display all epub files which are available in your mobile phone which you can search by scrolling down or typing the book title in the search bar. now you have to find the e-comic book titled as "Priya the Accessibility Warrior" and Click on it.
  • Step 14: The ecomic book will open.
  • Step 15: Find play icon in the bottom and then click on it.
  • Step 16: After clicking play icon the application will start reading the comic book.
